Group Creative Director and Film Direction for SILO's return for 2024.
As media consumption shapes our beliefs and values, we challenged audiences with a simple but powerful statement: "You are the media you consume." This idea drove the creative direction for the season, encouraging visceral reactions while provoking thought.
Traditionally, Silo Theatre has maintained anonymity in its visual branding by covering faces. For this season, we shifted the approach by zooming in on the mouth—a central symbol of human consumption. The mouth became a focal point, representing each of the four shows, creating intrigue while keeping identities concealed. Later in the year, as each performance was promoted, we revealed the faces and the full context behind the imagery.
I’m proud of the incredible work by the team at Colenso, especially Sonya Milford and Leon Bristow, and the amazing photography by Toaki Okano and the collaboration with all the team at SILO.
This work has been nominated at the bestawards.co.nz for Design Communication, Design Craft, and Photography & Cinematography & Editing.
